What Smecta is and what it is used for: Other intestinal adsorbents (A: digestive tract and metabolism). This drug is indicated in symptomatic treatment of: -Acute diarrhoea in children and infants in addition to oral rehydration and in adults; -Chronic diarrhoea (long-term diarrhoea); -Pain associated with digestive disorders affecting the oesophagus, stomach and/or intestine Dosage: *Treatment of acute diarrhoea: - Infants and children: - up to 1 year: 2 packets a day for 3 days, then 1 packet a day. - 1 year and older: 4 packets a day for 3 days, then 2 packets a day. - Adults: on average, 3 packets a day. In practice the daily dose can be doubled at the start of treatment. Caution: This medication will only be used during pregnancy if your doctor advices it. Method and route of administration: The contents of the packet must be mixed into a liquid to form a suspension, just before use.
