The easiest way to know what wheelchair tyre size to purchase is to look on the sidewall of the existing tire. In most cases, if you match the number, you will be fine. For foam filled tires (solid), you may need the bead with of the existing tire or the inner bead width of the rim if you are upgrading from pneumatic (air filled). The tyre size number can be metric, standard or both. In some cases the numbers refer to the width of the tire for a particular sized rim . If the tire is not available (you only have the rim) you can try to contact the manufacturer of your wheelchair to see if they know what size will fit on your rim. We do not recommend changing the size tire that came with your wheelchair even if it will fit on your rim.
