What is Rust?
Also known as an Iron Oxide, this is an instance of a chemical reaction wherein your iron oxidizes in the presence of Oxygen and water. In the event of an Iron Oxide, this lacks characteristics than the iron material.
How Does Rust Converter Works?
Rust converters are made to remove existing rusts. It will also prevent your materials from getting severely damaged. There is an ingredient that a rust converter has, and that is Tannic which is seen in the form of tannic acid.
Rust converters usually come with a polymer that serves as a protective layer. This is also a compound that is made to risen the chemical process with the tannic acid.
This will convert the rust on the material into a protective chemical barrier.

How to Apply Rust Converter?
You can apply rust converter by using a roller. You can also use a brush if you do not have any roller. A brush can be used in applying the product to a smaller surface, whereas you can use rollers to apply the product on large surfaces.
Let it dry for about 20 mins, and the curing process will take about 24 hours. Apply a second coating to ensure a better result.
Once that you have applied the rust converter to the affected area, leave it and let it dry. As you have been considering on painting, you can use an epoxy paint for you to paint over the rust converter that you applied.
A water-based painting or a Latex paint is not advisable to use for covering the rust converter.
Here are other precautions and tips that can be helpful in applying the rust remover;
You can only apply the rust remover when the surface of the material is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do not spill any used rust converter back into your bottle
You can only use oil-based paint as your top coating
Never use Latex paint
