Imported Dashi Kombu Dried Kelp Slice 150gm
'Kombu' is dried edible sea kelp that is mainly used in the base broth of many Japanese, Korean & Chinese recipes.
It has a great savory taste (umami flavor) when it is boiled in water.
The dried kelp is an outstanding ingredients for clear soups & hot pot (nabemono) such as shabu shabu.
It is also the perfect ingredients for vegetarian broth since it is plant based.
How to cook basic kombu dashi soup:
1) Combine the kombu and water. Let the kombu soak for 10-20 minutes.
(Suggestion : Cut some slits in the kombu with scissors once it is soft to release more flavor)
2) Place the kombu and water in a medium pot. Heat gently to bring out the flavor.
3) Turn off the heat before it comes to a boiling point.
(For the ultimate flavor, can add ingredients like katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes), dried anchovies or shiitake mushrooms.)
